As an allocation director, you will be a key senior leader in planning and allocation, and will report to the Vice President of Allocation. Along with this, you will also partner with the GMM and GVP in business matters, and use your knowledge of merchandise planning and allocation to drive gross margin dollars by selling product and reducing the number of markdowns at store locations.

Your team will look to you to provide strategic direction for allocation, replenishment, sizing, and pack, and you will coach your team of allocation managers and analysts throughout the process. Other responsibilities include balancing and prioritizing workloads across the organization, recognizing and promoting talented analysts within your team, and using planning and merchandising systems like RMS, APX, and SPO.

The prime allocation director candidate will have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, operations, or any other similar business field. A proven track record of success using data-driven analysis to drive sales and recognize revenue-creating opportunities is vital as well.

Your background in coaching and mentorship within cross-functional team situations will be an asset, as will your creative mind and curious nature in terms of discovering processes to improve allocation methods and drive margins. The planning and allocation director must be comfortable and able to share best practices with peers while also serving as a key influence at the GMM and GVP level.

A strong work ethic complete with impeccable oral and written communication skills is a necessity in merchandise allocation and planning, as is your ability to manage your time and prioritize tasks.
