Assistant Textile Designer

As an Assistant Textile Designer at our headquarters in Charlotte, you will be a member of quick-paced creative team of designers who are focused on creating new private brand styles.  You will help create and present textile design concepts to your partners throughout private brands, and will be responsible for the creation, development, and execution of artwork that achieves Belk Private Brand’s objectives and the overall product strategy.  Beginning the second you join our team, you will be immersed in the creative process.  Your realm of expertise will range from researching seasonal trends to working with the teams across the business to understanding the creative direction of the products.

You will have to be an imaginative designer who has experience with the techniques and technology used in print/textile design in order to excel as an Assistant Textile Designer at Belk.  Your ability to use design software is critical to this role, as is your working knowledge of knit and woven textile design.  You will be an agent of change that will look to continuously improve our private label brands by using your strong fashion sense to promote and produce styles that fit our customer bases’ wants and needs.  The prime candidate will be able to work independently and as a team member.  Excellent communication skills will be required, and demonstrated ability to research current market trends will be a necessity.

Charlotte is a growing at a rapid pace, and is home to a wide variety of arts and cultures.  Areas surrounding the city, such as NoDa, are renowned for their decadent food trucks and upscale, modern breweries.  There is even a monthly art-walk in NoDa that provides an opportunity for residents to discuss the showcased pieces with the artists themselves—you can even view their work over a glass of wine.  The social scene is always bustling around this city, whether you are uptown or in the suburbs.
