As a Senior Technical Designer at our corporate headquarters in Charlotte, you will be overseeing and supporting numerous in-house designers and cross-functional teams. You will be responsible for managing, directing, and implementing technical design functions, and making sure that Belk’s teams turn out quality products that match our customers’ styles. You will provide support for technical designers, evaluate and manage their performance, and supervise and guide fit sessions. Along with these tasks, you will ensure that illustrations, measurement specs, trim requirements, and the like are properly aligned to meet brand and production goals.
To succeed at this role, you will need to be an expert in patternmaking, garment fitting, and technical design. The Senior Technical Designer will be responsible for supervising technical designers, so a desire to mentor and train others is a must for this position. Other essential characteristics of this role include being self-motivated, engaging, and detail-oriented. You will need to be able to navigate Adobe, Illustrator, and Windows applications, as well as being proficient in using other basic computer programs. Superb communication skills—both oral and written—are vital to your success as a Senior Technical Designer, and the ideal candidate for this position will demonstrate the ability to initiate change.
