Technical Designer

As a Technical Designer at our corporate office in Charlotte, you will be joining a fast-paced design team that is focused on creating high quality garments that emphasize our customers’ distinct styles. You will be responsible for the creation of technical spec packages that are composed of technical sketches, measurement specs, construction and trim details, and specific quality standards. You will be responsible for managing all technical spec and fit details during all stages of sampling beginning immediately upon employment. The Technical Designer will also evaluate garments, lead fit sessions, and ensure that size and fit consistency is maintained in each unique Private Label Brand.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a self-motivated individual who focuses on details. Strong written and oral communication skills will be necessary as a Technical Designer, as well as the ability to collaborate with other branches in the Belk organization. You will have excellent time-management and organizational skills that will help drive production at Belk. Along with this, you will possess the knowledge and capability to measure garments and track products throughout their life-cycles. The Technical Designer must have experience in patternmaking and pattern manipulation among draping and grading skills. An understanding of basic computer programs including Adobe Illustrator and Windows is crucial in this role.
